Marie Chimkovitch (°Ghent, 1977) is a self-taught painter. Drawing and painting are ways to communicate with the world, to become part of it and to interiorize its beauty, strength or emotions. Whether she paints portraits, city views, landscapes, musicians or imaginary worlds, Marie invites the viewer to experience the reality of her subjects through her interpretation of them.

Marie Chimkovitch is the artist name of Marieke Van Acker

Translator and PhD in Romance Philology (Ghent University, 2004 - Specialities : the Dawn of the Romance languages, the Dawn and the First Stages of French; the Transmission of Knowledge in the Middle Ages).
